“En-dessous, la Forêt” is a total project which consists in the construction in the middle of the regional forest of Bondy in Clichy-sous-Bois of a monumental wooden scenographic work, which becomes the support of a choreographic creation. .

At the bend of a path, a huge facade soars out into the middle of a pine grove. This wooden architecture made of repeated and regular horizontals and verticals is modeled on an orthonormal grid; almost systematic production support for all the architectures of large assemblies.

Those of Clichy-sous-Bois and Montfermeil are no exception. Their construction from the sixties generates clear cuts on huge plots of this same forest.

Today, around wood, urban upheavals are once again exerting forms of land and property pressure on the forest. From then on, the edge of the forest becomes an intermediate space, a buffer zone, a refuge for marginalized bodies.

The ways of understanding space evolve and the forest then becomes this space of trust where new forms of organization and resistance are created. Echoing the reconfiguration of inhabited spaces, the destruction and reconstruction of buildings, the potential disappearance of part of the forest ... the dancers invite us to understand the way in which structural and spatial alterations impact bodies and their travel.

The creation tries to bring into existence the daily gestures of the act of living in a built environment which paradoxically tends to transform itself gradually. Both a monumental construction, the bark of a gigantic tree and a setting for dancers, this multifaceted work is offered to residents, walkers and the curious.
