In the heart of the Louvre, two exceptional evenings with the CCN Ballet de Lorraine and Maud le Pladec

After Angelin Preljocaj in 2022, it is the turn of Maud Le Pladec to take over the Cour Lefuel of the Louvre Museum, a jewel of the Second Empire usually inaccessible to the public and characterized by its majestic ramp in the shape of a horseshoe.

For this piece created with the dancers of the CCN-Ballet de Lorraine, she imagined a choreographic device that borrows certain editing and assembly processes from the cinema. Conceived as a sequence shot, to the bewitching rhythm of electronic music, Static Shot shows the dancers on a stage that looks like a fashion week catwalk. With an aesthetic flirting with house and urban dances, Maud Le Pladec, surrounded by big names of the contemporary scene – Pete Harden and Chloé Thévenin on music, Éric Soyer on lighting, Christelle Kocher on costumes –, composes a piece of rare intensity.

Close to a gigantic Voguing Ball, these festive gatherings where the dancers compete in virtuosity, the troupe becomes a single entity, vibrant, to the point of ecstasy. Written for the 24 dancers of the ballet, the choreography revisits the codes of unison. Thought as a “block” of bodies, images and sounds, it includes no beginning, no middle, no end. In a permanent acme, the performers tirelessly bring the energy of the movement to its zenith. Panting !

In the press

It's also the procession of the bodies in itself that detonates: a slowed pace, ultra-synchronized strides, particularly outraged shoulders and wiggles... And there, bim, suddenly, here we are propelled into a clip by Britney Spears.

We love the streetwear and glitter visuals, the dull sound of sneakers, hip hop dances, from queer culture, classics, or French cancan, references that seem to come from the world of the night and the catwalk!

Toute la Culture - Chloé Coppalle

Watch out for your eyes, Maud Le Pladec makes the colors explode, unleashes the movements and offers a shot of energy (…) Like in an end-of-the-world rave party, the 24 dancers throw themselves headlong into a trance dance, very rhythmic.
